Brain is neural connections in certain structure, although structure doesnt matter as much as the activable-matrix of neurons in brain enabled by programmed synaptic weights that reside within.

if consciousness was concentrated, such as in hypothalamus, then the neural connections merely activate it via the computed response within, although, that would mean anything in this world, the biological substrate information and the external information in the environment, be it in silicon form or whatever, communicable form, then all awareness forms the part of consciousness, whether it be from information in biological neurons, or from information retrieved in any form, such as digital through AI, mechanical or motion information, energy-wave information, etc. But being’s extent is also determined by what it is capable of manipulating, i.e. action taking, and how these actions affect deterministically in the universe,
