When on Mars, the existing ecosystem of manufacturing on Earth will be too expensive to afford. For now, 3d printers on earth mostly are good for making small plastic toys or small-time use gadgets, or mini things. Many different kinds of them are useful for many other things, but are not there for consumer use, and definitely not on mass scale for making parts, since specialized assembly would give more desirable part at lower cost of money, time, and energy, and sometimes unused wasted material (that could ofc. mostly be recycled).

But when such spatially distributed ecosystem is too expensive to afford, a more reliable plan will be to have mini machines capable of manufacturing anything. Idea is to create anything, just by asking, much like AI information generators that is available today. Automating compactly, into an abra-kadabra machine. Also, later in future, quantum concepts will enable more complex manufacturing.

A gameplay that could inspire a vision of the future is PlanetCrafter, where starting from raw resources, complex technology is created using crafting, and represents the concept of ultimate fabrication of making stuff, in simplest of games, and how experience would be like to go around a new planet, alone, and colonize it all by oneself.

Issue of energy, having biogeneticlongevityresiliencerobustnessimmunitytoaccidents, having complex reachable manufacturability on one-self’s end, to allow the imagination to flourish, and improve the overall living experience for teenagers to live their life in the universe from the very young age, through which they get inspired, and learn. So they could tame their space in this universe, for the evolved form of beings they are.

Cell tissues and organisms are an excellent example of self-assembly. This machinery creates and maintains itself, and also creates a new form of itself.

Creation, sustenance, transformation, existence.
