Index note indecision; specialization vs breadth; "do your thing but get paid immensely"

Personal entry: written about the author's own life and circumstances at the time. It is kept as part of the record but is not surfaced in picks or suggestions.

If you are someone like me, who has ever indecisive mind, at times which demands decision, but scrutinizing in overly detail puts all jobs at equal lengths (or they can be put out of fairness), and ultimate goal becomes to do all the jobs, in some way or another, and experience the amazing things in this world.

As from academic background, path towards long term academic stability involves post doc, and so on. Since, I’m trying to avoid giving lectures (on don’t know what) and avoid correcting papers, a job in company might sound good, if it would be about the salary and the work. A job should be non-stressful, which can be hard to avoid in this bustling world, although calmer places would have a different story. Existence does not require anyone to work, or do anything at all, especially, when many things are automated. But the richness in variety is given by all people working, each one contributes some unique part of their doing in society.

When I look at jobs online, I like no jobs, but when I realize what I like to do, I’d go for most jobs which I’m capable of. Maybe I’m’ not seeing the things I could do, perhaps because I’m already doing it and straightaway ignoring those possibilities, probably because its a chance to look for a change, a new beginning, a new experience towards a newer attitude in society, which would have improvement in quality of life.

But since time is limited, I would need to go for a temporary company, then another company, as I hop from one to next, with a period of a year or so, extending the residence permit. Like every time it feels like a deadline, and possibility of existence after seems uncertain.

But another problem is, usually, local or small companies, they specialize in only one thing, which can lead to rabbit-hole issues, where one or part of people may feel disconnected or detached from ever increasing need to have multi-faceted experience and knowledge, for what existence is, to survive and thrive, especially in this modern world where many interesting things other may seem, but out of reach. Specializing only one thing is not bad, as the only players get left in that field would be those specialists. However, while not being a specialist, and entering a narrower regime sounds hurtful.

There could also be a personal hobby, as it closely aligns with the work, however, the drawback of which is that hobby might not align with the demand at work, leading to double time of hobby (for satiating personal mind) and work (for satiating bank balance, and food, and other services since I don’t generate them on my own). A person like me, laid back, would be barely surviving on a universal common income, or wouldn’t exist in this world if the person wouldn’t get a job or avoid one. So this pressures to go into the jobs that do not fit the rhyming match of person, but nevertheless, some things which are there can be done to just get paid.

There are vastness of things, for a curious mind, and one way to go would be “do your thing but get paid immensely” to one’s desire. However, I know of no such thing which also would guarantee it, i.e. without any risks, as things with risks are, for example, trading, startup, small business, etc.

Middle of life may be a time to slow down on activity, as I feel the thirties soon to be hitting, energetic, yet sometimes filled with lethargic, dwindling highly at times.

Doing something for own interest, for the self can only provide the value of idea to the society, i.e. something local, of one’s own, for e.g. a hobby project showing new invention idea, but it does not give utility (if we were here to talk about giving services of some form to society – as that’s one way to get paid). And to get paid by enhancing experience by providing utility or service to society requires scalability. If something is not scalable to many, it never sees the light of the day, unless its a niche thing for which only few may seem to be interested, putting it at the risk of availability.

Well, I do have no idea how much would one get paid (as in guaranteed way), as an influencer, or tech worker working all time, or as an consultant of a kind, or property dealer, and (any goods, services, ideas, etc.) …. so many you could just invent one.
And surely, other ways of working will harbor other thoughts and feelings towards work and life, and ultimately towards self-treatment and self-worth, which would ultimately be responsible for better or worse of our own selves.

Maybe its self bickering that one may always be counting their own accomplishments on low bar, but sometimes that seems the case, but other times, that is just society-observed brain ingrained mindset that needs to be changed. As looking down on one self, when no one is there to raise the spirits can lead to success in pulling the self even more to the bottom, only to feel the denseness and a kind of feeling associated with survival on the edge.
